Novate Solutions, Inc., a process control engineering firm providing engineering and managed services to a variety of industrial clients with offices in Livermore, West Sacramento, and Merced CA is looking for an Electrical Engineer ll. This position focuses on designing, creating, maintaining and updating control diagrams, electrical ladder diagrams, panel elevation views, process and instrumentation diagrams, network diagrams and electrical one-line diagrams. As a client facing individual, you'll understand the key significance of your role in the company and how your ability to be the constant professional, even while under time constraints and pressure, is of the utmost of importance to the company’s core values. This role also, plays a key part in supporting other team members in an effort to achieve overall company goals and initiatives.

As an experienced professional, you will work with limited direction from your manager. You will ascertain project scope and expectations from account managers, your manager, or other engineers. Using your skills as an engineer, you will develop designs that meet project scope requirements, selecting industrial components, automation systems, instrumentation and network equipment incorporating all into a cohesive and clear engineering package. The engineering packages will clearly communicate design intent and support fabrication, installation, qualification, and acceptance testing.

As a key Novate employee, professionalism will extend to properly documented performance within the Novate process workflow (PSA tools, Novate cloud space and various other tools). You will communicate via email, phone, and through our PSA tools with other Novate team members, clients and vendors with professionalism and respect.

Your internal drive for improvement and curiosity will help you pursue professional growth, certification, licensure, and advancement within the Novate engineering team from Engineer II to IV and then to Sr. Engineer I. You will work to lead Associate Engineers within the same field as you continue to build leadership and management experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee production of electrical design / engineering on projects.

  • Provides technical support to business development team for bids and proposals.

  • Provides technical direction, serves as a point of contact or business liaison, and assists in problem resolution specific to a task or project.

  • Complies with all company policies and procedures to deliver superior work product.

  • Four (4) to (6) years of AutoCAD work in the controls engineering field.

  • PLC application experience

  • Basic understanding of Ethernet based networks

  • Solid understanding of current and past NEC code, California Electrical Code, NFPA 79, ISA, IEEE and similar.

  • Familiarity with industrial NFPA classifications

  • Other duties as assigned.


Job requirements

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in the automation and controls industry.

  • Thrives under pressure, is flexible, excels in a fast pace work environment with a variety of projects.

  • Ability to create accurate professional drawings from simple hand sketches and shop drawings.

  • Advanced using AutoCAD Electrical

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).

  • Microsoft Excel, Advanced Pivot Tables

  • Ability to clearly describe engineering design work to other professionals.

  • Ability to lead meetings on related work

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple project tasks effectively.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work with diverse personalities.

  • Team oriented

  • Excellent organization and time management skills.

  • Ability to type 35 + WPM

· Ability to travel, when necessary for field visits/client meetings, FAT/SAT's, within the US (typically about 15%, mostly California).

Education:

· 4 year degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university

· Graduate degree is a plus

License/Certifications:

· Valid driver’s license (required)

· Professional Engineers Registration by NCEES (United States)

· California PE in Electrical Engineering (Preferred)

Physical Demands:

The ability to lift up to 50 pounds with frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and crawling into confined spaces.

Travel Requirement:

Ability to travel frequently locally and out of state when necessary. Travel up to 15%. Remote working is encouraged.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

Ability to pass US Federal, State and Local security level background check. (US, DHS/FBI/DoD) required.
