Novate Solutions, Inc. a process control engineering firm providing engineering services to a variety of industrial clients with office locations in Livermore, West Sacramento and Merced is looking for an Industrial Assembly Tech I assigned to our Merced location. This position can be physically demanding and requires the individual to be a hands-on problem solver and able to work in a fast-paced work environment.


The ideal candidate enjoys a wide variety of projects and is looking to grow his or her skillset through collaboration with engineers, other technicians, and our electrical installation team. Growth opportunities include promotion through production management, or to the field installation and support team.

Job requirements

Responsibilities:

  1. Collect kitted materials from inventory according to Bill of Materials (BOM)
  2. Using hand and power tools, cut steel, aluminum and plastic enclosures and materials per engineering drawings.
  3. Install industrial electrical and automation components per engineering drawings.
  4. Print wire labels per engineering documents.
  5. Wire industrial control equipment per engineering drawings.
  6. Professionally organize wiring in wireway and loom.
  7. Test power equipment under engineering supervision.
  8. Communicate with engineers to document changes required from design.
  9. Redline (correct) drawings for any errors or corrections required via Bluebeam (Windows based software).
  10. Log time and activities in business applications, including work orders, production schedule and traveler documents.
  11. Communicate via Microsoft Outlook (Email) and Microsoft Teams with engineering, field and business management team.
  12. Control panel assembly which includes mounting, labeling, and wiring of custom systems.
  13. Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following UL508 (Industrial Control Panel standards), electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
  14. Diagnose and address problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment.
  15. Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments.
  16. Familiar working with power tools and hand tools possibly above head.
  17. Follow all requirements for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  18. Other duties as assigned.


Occasional Additional Tasks:

• Onsite commissioning that includes I/O checkout and calibration.

• Onsite and remote customer support.

• Ability to read plans/blueprints and comprehend drawings and schematics.

• Attention to small details to provide a professional finished product.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.

• Fulfill duties with minimal supervision.

• Ability to accurately complete daily timesheets and field as-built drawings.

• Ability to communicate and work productively with other employees.

• Mechanical and electrical aptitude.

• Professional communication skills for interacting with internal team.

• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve accurately while under pressure.

• Ability to learn and use web-based project management and diagnostic software.

• Manage paperwork, often on-line with web-based tools, for drawings, timesheets, and service call documentation.

• A strong work ethic and a “can-do” perspective.

An Exceptional Applicant will possess one or more of these Skills:

• Industrial Manufacturing Plant Technician experience.

• AutoCAD Experience

• PLC Programming experience with AB/Rockwell.

• HMI programming experience.

• Fabrication experience.

• Basic machining experience.

License/Certifications:

• Valid CA driver’s license

Physical Demands:

The ability to lift 75 pounds with frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching.

Travel Requirement:

Ability to travel when needed. Occasional travel to other Novate office locations, or to client sites.

Work Authority/Security Clearance:

• Ability to pass a DOD security level background check

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent U.S. Resident.
